I have been painting, drawing and creating from a young age, I sold some art at the age of 13 in my first exhibition and was inspired from there.
After leaving school I completed a 4.5 year signwriting apprenticeship and went on to run my own Sign shop for over 30 years. Old school style using brushes and paint, Gilding and doing pictorial work.
Airbrushing and painting vehicles was a big part of my specialist work, winning awards for my custom paint jobs. Then moving onto airbrushing windsurfers and surfboards I was invited to spray boards on Maui, Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand.
My interest and passion for designing, drawing and painting continues today after having more time to pursue my dream of being a full time artist. I have sponsored our local school Art Auctions over the past 4-5 years, with works from my son Kelly Rule, who is also a talented artist, who has exhibited in LA, Wellington, and Germany. We sometimes work on collaborations together.
I'm into challenging myself and when I get someone who likes my art and has an idea but can't put it down on paper or paint themselves, I feel great satisfaction that I can.
